You lucky people in the Concert Choir have been specially invited to take part in a recording for the song 'Goodbye Everyday. People' which will be the soundtrack for a short publicity film. The producer and composer, Dominic Ferris, came to our concert at St Martin's and liked what he heard. The film is part of a campaign in association with the national children's charity Kidscape on issues of bullying and abuse. The song and the film are the story of a child running away from home. The music is scored for piano, guitars and rhythm section as well as a symphony orchestra and choir. The recording sessions will be at the studio of the Royal College of Music, South Kensington. The editing will be done later at the famous Abbey Road Studios. A documentary is also being made of the whole process so there will be filming and maybe interviews during the recording session. Later in the year
we will be invited to the screening premiere at a London cinema.
When is this happening? Very soon - at the beginning of the Easter holidays in fact. So tell your parents and get this date fixed in your diary TUESDAY 7th APRIL 2-5 PM.
Everyone in the Concert Choir is expected to take part and there may be some extra rehearsals. So give this absolute priority. Travelling arrangements will be announced later on.
This is a huge opportunity for you to experience making a studio recording and if it all goes well other work could develop from this
for BBS.

STOP PRESS! GOODBYE EVERYDAY PEOPLE -
A RECORDING OPPORTUNITY
A RECORDING OPPORTUNITY
Lots of good things coming up soon: Bromley Festival, Rotary Club Concert and a recording session - all before Easter. I know you will be determined to make sure you retain the Harvey Grace Cup in the Festival. The Rotary Club have been good friends of BBS for some years. We have sung at social events for them and they make a point of promoting concerts for us from time to time. It's thanks to one of their leadings members that we have Travis working with us. When we were looking for a new director I spoke to John Williams and he said "I think I know just the person for your choir". How right he has proved to be! These local events help to spread our reputation in Bromley and beyond. The recording (mentioned elsewhere) should help to take our name further. The producer and composer, Dominic Ferris, works frequently in the West End as conductor of musicals, especially Billy Elliott and Wicked and was recently coaching boys for the new Oliver! Production. He has also fixed up a concert for us in Brighton this coming August. See how one thing leads to another?Colin Nash
There is much exciting news in store for The Bromley Boy Singers !I would like to extend a thank you to both Ian and Carole for holding the Fort during January.
Much note learning was accomplished during this time, and very clearly, your voices were
well maintained, and oiled - Well done, Team !
Mary King is coming to work with us on May 9th, 10:00 - 13:00. The location has yet to be
confirmed, but most likely, St John's, Bromley. Please mark this in your diary, it's a
wonderful opportunity to work with a world class voice coach.
I'm sure most of you recall Judith Colman, the bubbly, Samantha Fox look-a-like, who
worked with us at Reigate. After persistent negotiating, and many lengthy conversations, she
has agreed to work with us on a weekly basis, commencing September - very exciting
news ! We have yet to determine the best way to utilise her time on a Wednesday evening,
but as we continue to grow, and establish our reputation as a choir, it's obvious to say our pool of staff will need to grow also.
In other corners of this edition, you will read of a recording project, a forth coming competition, concerts and other dates you
may need to be aware of. Please make certain you have all relevant dates marked in your diaries, or calendars. It's essential
you're on time to rehearsals and public performances.
Keep singing !
Travis Baker
